ARLES/AVIGNON
Since it was rainy and cold in Paris over the weekend, we GLADLY escaped to the sunny south of France for a temporary getaway. We spent four days in Arles and Avignon hunting down Vincent Van Gogh locations, attending wine tastings, sneaking off to the beach, and visiting a famous photography exhibit.
Van Gogh painted some of his most famous pieces when he lived in Arles, including Starry Night, Vase with 12 Sunflowers, & Night Cafe, to name a few. The first night we arrived we even went to dinner at the very cafe he painted in Cafe at Night!
Beach day filled with sunburns and speculoos gelato!
The photography exhibit in Arles was incredible. It is spread throughout the entire city (which is actually pretty small), so we weren't even able to see all of the individual shows. My favorite exhibits were the ones in old, abandoned warehouses and the ones sponsored by The New York Times Magazine.
